The National Association of Counties (NACo) is marking its sixth Operation Green Light for Veterans campaign from November 4th through November 11th. America’s counties have a long and proud history of honoring its veterans, a legacy that continues to this day.
In recognition of this campaign, Idaho counties and counties across the nation are showing their support, illuminating their community green, from streetlights to courthouses. Communities of every size find a way to support their veterans. “We are a smaller county with many different organizations showing their support” says Boundary County Clerk, Glenda Poston. “We feel the Operation Green Light program is our way to honor the service these veterans have provided to the county and to our country.”
NACo invites all 3,069 counties, parishes, and boroughs to join in showing their support each year, and Idaho’s counties answer that call. Kim Keeley, Teton County Clerk, says that her county is “proud to honor those who made immeasurable sacrifices to preserve freedom by participating in Operation Green Light for Veterans!”
