2027 IAC Legislative Resolution Deadline Approaching

31 Jul 2026, by Sara Westbrook Share :

As we look ahead to the 2027 legislative session, we expect many of last session’s major issues — property taxes and revenue options for state-required county services, tourism impacts, data centers/energy, and transportation funding, among others — to carry over. These issues will require significant time and attention from IAC staff and membership alike.

Given this heavy carryover, we are asking IAC members to think carefully before submitting a new resolution this year. If you are considering one, start by reviewing IAC’s Policy Platform (starting on page 3) to see if the issue is already addressed. If it is, contact IAC’s Government Affairs Director Sara Westbrook — she can update you on where things stand and help determine whether a resolution is necessary or already being addressed through ongoing IAC work.

As a reminder, legislative resolutions express IAC’s official support for a state law change requiring legislation. To be included in the IAC Legislative Package, resolutions must be submitted using the 2027 IAC Legislative or Policy Resolution Form no later than Monday, August 31, 2026, and must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Focus on a single issue within the general realm and scope of county government
  • Affect more than one county
  • Affect more than one elected office or department
  • Affect taxation, spending, or revenue generation authority, or create significant efficiencies or cost savings
  • Be politically feasible
