The Idaho Association of Counties (IAC) celebrated a major milestone this year with its 50th Annual Conference, and the celebration came with an added bonus: a successful effort to raise funds for the IAC Scholarship Fund.
One of the highlights of the conference reception was the annual cornhole tournament, which brought together 21 teams for some friendly competition, plenty of laughs, and an opportunity to support a great cause. The reception was a fitting way to celebrate 50 years of IAC and the county officials and employees who have helped make the association what it is today.

The Scholarship Scarf also made its way around the reception and conference with attendees generously contributing throughout the entire week. By the end of the conference, approximately $800 had been raised for the scholarship fund.
Established in 1996 and named the Charles Nickel Scholarship Fund in 1997, the IAC Scholarship Fund was created to help offset the increasing cost of higher education for families connected to Idaho county government. The program provides scholarships to children of county employees, as well as children and grandchildren of county elected officials, including assessors, clerks, commissioners, coroners, prosecuting attorneys, sheriffs, and treasurers.
The 2026 conference was one of IAC’s largest-attended conferences, and that tremendous participation helped make the 50th anniversary celebration especially successful. The generosity and enthusiasm of attendees demonstrated once again that IAC is not only committed to supporting Idaho counties today, but also to investing in the next generation.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the cornhole tournament, contributed to the Scholarship Scarf, and helped make this year’s fundraising efforts such a success!
