IAC Legislative Committee Meets in Person to Determine Priorities for 2024

The IAC Legislative Committee met in person in downtown Boise today to discuss and determine policy priorities moving into the 2024 Legislative Session. Members who couldn’t make it into Boise participated remotely over zoom. Committee members worked through 11 policies that had been voted on and advanced by the full membership at the IAC Annual Conference for consideration as 2024 IAC legislative priorities.

“I’m very appreciative of this committee and of the work that they do,” said Twin Falls County Commissioner Don Hall, who chairs the committee. “We work hard to be fair, and we welcome differing views and discuss all perspectives, which leads to positive outcomes.”

The committee, composed of various county elected positions from different regions and varying county sizes, held robust debates with guidance from IAC policy staff to determine the best and most practical priorities for the upcoming session. Things like importance, feasibility, and timing are taken into consideration when determining the organization’s five policy priorities. The resolutions not selected to advance as priorities will remain IAC policies and will be revisited as time allows.

“I’m pleased with the work the committee accomplished today, which is a culmination of the efforts made by IAC members and staff over the past several months,” said Hall.

The Legislative Committee will begin meeting almost weekly once the legislative session begins, and the members will work closely with IAC policy staff to help advance IAC’s priorities.
