This week, most of the IAC Legislative Committee members met in person at the IAC Washington Office. The committee received a progress report on the IAC Priorities and Policies for the session and also discussed potential new legislation coming down the pipe, including increasing the fee for Idaho State Park Passports, a Kilowatt Hour Tax, Solar Tax changes, increasing the fine for Drive Insured, and Domestic Water.
Many committee members also seized the opportunity to meet with their legislators to ensure the lines of communication are clear so that when issues impacting counties come up, the legislators will know who they can reach out to for information.
Yesterday, IAC had the privilege of hosting our state and local transportation partners for an engaging and productive meeting. We were pleased to welcome Laila Kral, Administrator of the Local Highway Transportation Assistance Council (LHTAC); Nick Veldhouse, Executive Director of the Idaho Association of Highway Districts (IAHD); Kelley Packer, Executive Director of the Association of Idaho Cities (AIC), along with AIC policy staff; and Scott Stokes, Director of the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), accompanied by his team.
We are especially grateful to Director Stokes for taking time out of his busy schedule to meet with local partners and discuss a wide range of critical transportation issues.
For a more in-depth update on week two of the 2025 Legislative Session, IAC members are welcome to join us each Friday during the session at 11 am MST and 10 am PST for our Live Legislative Update. Click here to register for the meetings if you have not yet registered.
