Community members to benefit from enhanced services
By Ada County Coroner Richard Riffle and IAC Communications Specialist Gracee Gorrell
Ada County Coroner’s Office is pleased to have taken occupancy of its new facility at 95 N. Touchmark Way in Meridian, Idaho. This state-of-the-art facility offers services not only to the citizens of Ada County but to over 30 counties in Idaho, and on occasion, agencies in Eastern Oregon.
This week, the Idaho Association of Counties (IAC) staff toured the new facility and its impressive technology, including a full-body X-ray machine that reduces time from 45 minutes to roughly 5 minutes. The facility also has an observation deck to view the autopsy procedure from a distance, making for a more sanitary and comfortable learning environment.
The tour also included a stop at the large training room that fits up to 45 people. The space has two large screens, a sound system, and the ability to record any presentations. Additionally, there are several conference rooms throughout the facility allowing for meetings and daily case briefings.
The new facility now provides family support rooms for more sensitive consultations and offers two emotional support dogs to aid grieving loved ones.
The elevated space also allows for future growth and expansion. Ada County Coroner Richard Riffle stated, “The new site will serve Ada County for many years and ensure our ability to provide the highest quality medicolegal death investigations and forensic pathology services to our community and beyond.”
Ada County Coroner’s Office is an accredited office through the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners (IACME) and the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME). The office is one of only a handful of agencies across the nation to hold both accreditations.
With three board-certified forensic pathologists, Ada County Coroner’s Office operates to the highest standards of the industry. The award-winning team of medicolegal death investigators are the front line of the office, serving local communities with dignity and compassion.
