The Idaho Secretary of State’s Office, in partnership with the Idaho Association of County Recorders and Clerks (IACRC), hosted its annual election training conference at the Riverside Hotel from January 7–9, 2026. The event offered election officials from across the state cutting-edge insights into emerging election trends, new technologies, and valuable tools to strengthen election administration in their counties.

The conference opened with welcoming remarks from IACRC President and Teton County Clerk Kim Keeley, followed by an address from Idaho Secretary of State Phil McGrane, who provided updates on the past year and outlined priorities for the year ahead.

Conference trainings covered a wide range of essential topics, including building public trust in elections, voter fraud prevention, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity training, signature verification, the history of elections, and much more. A legislative panel also gave participants the opportunity to gain insight into the upcoming legislative session.

On Wednesday evening, attendees gathered for a networking reception at Ada County’s newly renovated elections building. Sponsored by Elections Systems & Software, the event featured appetizers, light music and a welcoming atmosphere that encouraged relationship-building among election professionals.

Thursday afternoon featured keynote speaker Colonel Ked Wills, retired director of Idaho State Police. Colonel Wills gave a motivational presentation on self perception, organizational culture, and how to lead with honor.

“In addition to many outstanding presentations, the elections conference provides a great opportunity for elected clerks and elections staff to network with each other and other agencies,” said IACRC President Kim Keeley. “This networking time is invaluable in helping to create new and strengthen old relationships with the goal of continuing to administer elections in a fair and transparent manner.”
