WTS SW Idaho is now seeking nominations for the 2016 Recognition Awards. It’s a great way to honor those who support our organization and its goals, and to heighten awareness of WTS in the transportation community. The SW Idaho Chapter will select a recipient for each of the categories below so nominate a recipient for any or all the award categories. The Local winners will be submitted to WTS International for further consideration for national recognition. This is a great way to honor those who support WTS and the advancement of women, and to heighten awareness of the importance of WTS in the transportation community.

WTS Member of the Year
WTS Woman of the Year
WTS Secretary Ray LaHood Award (Man of the Year)
WTS Employer of the Year
WTS Innovative Transportation Solutions Award
Submission Schedule
January 5th, 2017 – Deadline to submit nominations
January 6th, 2017 – Nominations sent to WTS Gala committee
January 10th, 2017 – WTS Gala committee nomination review meeting
January 11th, 2017 – WTS Board approves winners
January 17th, 2017 – Winners are notified
January 23th, 2017 – Chapter deadline to submit nominations to WTS International
January 26th, 2017 – Annual Awards Gala
Submission Requirements
The nomination must be a Word document in 12-point Times New Roman font.
Contact information for the award winner and award nominator. Summarize this information on a separate sheet at the front of the award submittal.
Include a one-page summary for each nominee; the summary must address why the nominee is deserving of the award. This summary page will serve as the nomination which is forwarded to WTS International for further consideration for Treasure Valley Award winners only (one per category). Supplemental information forms should be included that addresses each of the criteria questions as outlined in each award category below.
No page limit for the nomination submittal but committee requests to use best discretion in page limit selection.

Member of the Year
This award acknowledges a WTS member who has made extraordinary contributions to the success of the organization. Selection shall be based on the following criteria:
A member who has shown an extraordinary commitment to the goals and growth of WTS by working effectively in support of WTS goals. (Identify activities.)
A member who has promoted the reputation of WTS within the transportation industry. (Include an explanation describing how and what was done.)
A member who has worked effectively to strengthen communication between local and international WTS levels or between chapters.
A member who has done an outstanding job of revitalizing or expanding a chapter or any of its functions.
Woman of the Year
This category is designed to reach outbeyond our membership to honor a woman who is an outstanding role model in transportation. Selection shall be based on the following criteria:
A woman who is a leader in transportation and has made an outstanding contribution to the transportation industry.
A woman who has directly contributed toward the advancement of women and minorities through programs or opportunities in the transportation field.
A woman who through her career achievements and support of women in the industry has advanced the reputation and credibility of women in transportation.
Secretary Ray LaHood Award
This category is designed to reach outbeyond our membership to honor a man who has contributed to the advancement of women and minorities in transportation. Selection shall be based on the following criteria:
A man who is a leader in transportation and has made an outstanding contribution to the transportation industry.
A man who has directly contributed toward the advancement of women and minorities through programs or opportunities in the transportation field.
A man who has led by example, seeking out opportunities to advance the advocate for women in his own organization, and who has actively ensured that women are able to compete for key positions of authority within that organization.
A man who through his career achievements and support of women in the industry has advanced the reputation and credibility of women in transportation.
Employer of the Year
This award honors an organization (company, non-profit, association or government agency) for recruiting, retaining and advancing women. Applications/nominations for Employer of the Year should include the following:
Describe the organization’s structure, including the number of women in executive and senior positions and those leading major initiatives.
Specify the career development plans and succession programs the organization has in place for women to advance within the organization.
Describe and provide example(s) of how the organization provides continuing development for its female employees through:
Professional education
Professional organizations
Professional development opportunities
Describe and provide example(s) of how the organization encourages women students to enter the transportation field by providing internship opportunities.
Describe and provide example(s) of how the organization supports WTS through memberships, sponsorships, and employee involvement at the local and international levels.
Innovative Transportation Solutions Award
This award salutes an innovative transportation project led by a woman. Nominations for the Innovative Transportation Solutions award should include the following:
Describe the purpose of the transportation initiative, solution, project or policy and the number of women involved from initiation to completion.
Identify the key elements of the project and how the female project manager successfully implemented those elements.
Illustrate how the female project manager successfully met and overcame challenges.
