The Coronavirus pandemic has presented many challenges over the past seven months. With those challenges, come unexpected changes. This year IAC held its Annual Business Meeting in a virtual setting in lieu of holding an in-person event. While we certainly missed the interactions and networking of a typical Annual Conference, the IAC Members rose to the occasion.
IAC President and Shoshone County Assessor Jerry White led the meeting. There was one position on the Executive Committee, Western Interstate Region (WIR) Representative, and NACo Representative position open for the upcoming year. Ada County Coroner Dotti Owens and Minidoka County Coroner Lucky Bourn both ran for 2nd Vice President on the Executive Committee. Idaho County Commissioner Skip Brandt ran for the open WIR position. Bingham County Commissioner Mark Bair ran for NACo Representative. The four candidates each gave a brief speech explaining why they were running. Ada County Coroner Dotti Owen received the most votes from the members thus becoming IAC’s 2nd Vice President.
Gooding County Assessor and IAC Legislative Chair Justin Baldwin presented one legislative resolution. IAC Members voted to pass the resolution. The proposed resolution would provide further clarification regarding the Odyssey Fee collection. The resolution will now go to the Legislative Committee where they will determine whether or not to include it as part of the official IAC Policy Package for the upcoming legislative session.
Twenty-Five IAC Members won prizes during the live Exhibitor Passport Drawings. Prizes included an Amazon Fire Tablet, multiple $50 Amazon gift cards, a dry bag and headlamp, and wireless earbuds.
Jerry White swore in the Executive Committee to the following positions: Idaho County Clerk Kathy Ackerman as President, Clearwater County Sheriff Chris Goetz as 1st Vice President, and Ada County Coroner Dotti Owens as 2nd Vice President. Jerry White will make up the fourth member of the Executive Committee as the Immediate Past President.
