Idaho’s county treasurers gathered in Lewiston for their annual IACT conference, marking a major milestone—the 100th anniversary of their association. The event blended education, celebration, and camaraderie in a truly memorable way.
The conference welcomed several distinguished guests, including Shilo Heger, NACCTFO President from Kansas; Idaho State Treasurer Julie Ellsworth and the Revolutionary Spuddy Buddies who presented on America250 in Idaho; and Idaho’s own Jeffery Greene, a bronze medalist in snowshoeing at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Italy.
IACT President Kammy McFarland (Lemhi County) officially opened the meeting and invited attendees to take a nostalgic “Stroll Thru the Years”—traveling back from 2025 to the 1920s. Participants embraced the theme with creative costumes, from ‘80s neon to ‘60s flower children to ‘40s Rosie the Riveter. In a tribute to past treasurers, excerpts from historical meeting minutes were read aloud, reminding everyone that the core responsibilities of the office remain steadfast through the decades.
The conference featured a robust lineup of educational sessions, including:
– ICRMP on employment liability
– Idaho Tax Commission on urban renewal and property tax reduction
– Idaho State Treasurer’s Office on investments
– Rep. Dygert on parliamentary procedure
– University of Idaho’s Center for Intelligent Industrial Robotics on AI in the workplace
Fan favorites “Treasurer Talk” and “IAC Ask It Basket & Legislative Review” returned, sparking lively dialogue and idea-sharing. A special thanks to Seth and Sara for leading a dynamic session. Throughout the event, attendees connected with vendors offering innovative solutions tailored to treasurer offices. Their continued support helps make the annual conference possible. FY26 officer nominations were also encouraged during multiple sessions.
As an optional excursion, participants enjoyed a thrilling jet boat ride through Hells Canyon on the Snake River. Along the way, they spotted heron, ancient hieroglyphics and herds of goats. At the destination, guests were greeted by deer and wild turkeys before enjoying a riverside meal and exploring an orchard of pear and walnut trees—home to what may be the world’s second-largest cottonwood tree (unofficially measured by the arm span of five treasurers)!
The final day featured reports from nearly 20 IACT committees and districts, followed by the Roaring ‘20s–themed awards and installation banquet. Treasurers were honored for their dedication to continuing education and upcoming retirements were recognized. The evening concluded with the traditional passing of the gavel. Outgoing officers shared wisdom, wit, and whimsical parting gifts with the newly installed leadership team, including incoming IACT President Annette Dygert (Owyhee County). The moment was marked with laughter, hugs, and heartfelt gratitude.
The 2025 IACT Conference was a resounding success—educational, collaborative, and filled with celebration. We are deeply grateful for the strong turnout and enthusiastic participation as we honored 100 years of service. Thank you to District 2 for hosting an unforgettable centennial event!
