Idaho Legislature Full Steam Ahead
The 2022 Legislative Session started out slowly, but the pace is quickening rapidly. This week, we encourage IAC members to watch the House and Senate Committee hearings, keeping an eye out for legislation affecting counties.
Some of the legislation being heard includes IAC sponsored legislation. For example, yesterday, House Bill 542 (an IAC policy & IACRC sponsored bill to change the date court fees are remitted from the 5th of the month to the 15th of the month) was heard in the House Judiciary and Rules Committee. Twin Falls County Clerk Kristina Glasscock was able to provide remote testimony expressing support for the bill which was sent to the floor with a do-pass recommendation.
This afternoon alone, legislation in three different committees affecting counties will be heard at 1:30 pm. To view the agenda and for a livestream for each committee, click on the committee name below:
Senate Transportation: (S1254 regarding air quality provisions)
House Local Government: (RS29394 Rep. Skaug’s new County Lease Limitations bill)
At 3:30 today, the Senate Health and Welfare Committee will be hearing Senate Bill 1266 (an IAC 2022 policy & County Coroners’ sponsored bill to revise certain requirements upon the death of certain persons).
We encourage you to check out the IAC Bill Tracker to follow along for the latest information regarding bills IAC is monitoring, supporting, and opposing. If you have questions regarding any of the legislation listed, or if you hear about legislation that may be introduced that could affect counties, please reach out to the IAC Policy Team.
