The Idaho Secretary of State’s office and the Idaho Association of County Recorders and Clerks (IACRC) held their annual election training conference at the Riverside Hotel from January 8–10, 2025. This year’s event provided attendees with cutting-edge insights into election trends, technologies, and hands-on training with election software, offering valuable resources to enhance their expertise.

“Following a big presidential election year, the 2025 IACRC Elections Conference was a great chance for all of us to connect, share lessons learned, and gear up for the year ahead,” said Secretary of State Phil McGrane. “Idaho’s county clerks are the backbone of our elections, and their hard work and dedication make a real difference for voters across the state. Idaho is lucky to have such committed professionals making sure our elections run smoothly.”

The conference kicked off with a keynote presentation by Sharon McMahon, author of the New York Times bestseller The Small and the Mighty and host of the Here’s Where it Gets Interesting podcast. After her inspiring talk, attendees had the chance to meet Sharon and receive signed copies of her book.

Sessions covered critical topics such as accessibility at the polls, ballot design, signature verification, and preparation for city elections. A legislative panel featuring Representative Heather Scott and Senator Treg Bernt offered participants a unique chance to engage directly with Idaho lawmakers and gain insights into upcoming legislative priorities.

On Wednesday night, attendees enjoyed a networking reception at Bardeny in downtown Boise. Elections Systems & Software sponsored the event which featured appetizers and a lively atmosphere for relationship building.

Jason Dixon, IACRC President and Bannock County Clerk, gave his thoughts on the conference, stating: “This training helps us set a higher standard in the hope of fostering deeper trust in our election processes among Idahoans. This year’s conference was exceptionally good, fueled by the unique energy following the 2024 general election. It fostered camaraderie and sparked meaningful discussions as we continue to strengthen the integrity and efficiency of our elections.”
