The Idaho Association of County Recorders and Clerks (IACRC) gathered in Burley, Idaho on August 13-15 for their 2024 Annual Conference. The conference was held at the Best Western Burley Inn Convention Center where attendees discussed budgets, upcoming elections, recording, and general updates.
The conference kicked off with Secretary of State Phil McGrane speaking on the upcoming November elections and the 2025 Elections Conference this January. McGrane also shared his office’s plans to continue providing a series of regional trainings twice a year and their intent to send out voter pamphlets to every household by the end of September.
The second day started with a Recording Panel moderated by Bingham County Clerk Pam Eckhardt, with panelists including: Washington County Deputy Recorder Maria McConnell, Ada County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Heather McCarthy, Bannock County Chief Deputy Clerk Keri Povey, Cassia County Deputy Auditor Cally Velasquez, and Cassia County Deputy Recorder Elsa Velasquez.
On Wednesday night during the IACRC installation banquet, the new Executive Officers were sworn in. Jason Dixon of Bannock County was elected as the IACRC President, Kim Keeley of Teton County was elected as the IACRC Vice President, Trent Tripple of Ada County was elected as the IACRC Secretary/Treasurer, and Doug Miller of Valley County was elected as the IACRC Immediate Past President.
Dixon stated, “It’s always beneficial to come together to share thoughts, develop plans, and discuss best practices for the future. This conference was particularly productive, and the Clerks Association is making great strides forward.”
The final day included a Fines and Fees Workshop presented by Bingham County Clerk Pam Eckhardt, Bingham County Court Supervisor Sheri Landon, and Bingham County Deputy Clerk Diana Reese. Idaho County Clerk Kathy Ackerman followed with her presentation on Latin Terminology. The conference ended with committee updates.
In addition, attendees enjoyed several fun activities and networking opportunities outside of meetings, including a golf scramble on Monday night, bowling on Tuesday night, and a Wednesday-evening happy hour and dinner.
