The Idaho Association of Counties represents Idaho’s county governments before the Idaho Legislature and with the National Association of Counties (NACo) before the U.S. Congress. Legislative representation is a continuing process, which involves researching and drafting original legislation on behalf of the counties, monitoring legislation affecting counties and providing information to county officials concerning various legislative activities.

IAC’s legislative package is developed by the IAC Legislative Committee and ultimately adopted by the full body at the IAC Annual Conference.  The Legislative Committee has representatives from each affiliate association and district in the state. County officials are strongly encouraged to provide IAC with their recommendations concerning legislation.
