IAC Announces 2017 Scholarship Recipients

BOISE, Idaho – Idaho Association of Counties announces the 2017 recipients of the IAC Scholarship. Seven Idaho students have received a $1,000 scholarship from the Idaho Association of Counties.  They are:

  • Samantha Miller, a Freshman at the University of Idaho, daughter of Stuart Miller, who works in the Kootenai County Sheriffs office, was awarded the IAC Scholarship for District 1;
  • Madison Ulmer, a Freshman at Lewis-Clark State College, daughter of Douglas Ulmer, who works in the Idaho County Sheriffs office, was awarded the IAC Scholarship for District 2;
  • Danielle Church, a Freshman at Eastern Oregon University, daughter of Larry Church, who is the Payette County Commissioner, was awarded the IAC Scholarship for District 3;
  • Cody Root, a Sophomore at Arizona State University, son of Steve Root, who works in the Twin Falls County Assessors office, was awarded the IAC Scholarship for District 4;
  • Abbie Povey, a Sophomore at Utah State University, daughter of Leiza Povey who works for the Franklin County Clerks office, was awarded the IAC Scholarship for District 5;
  • Cheyenne Johnson, a Freshman at Idaho State University, daughter of Brian Johnson, who works for the Bonneville County Sheriffs office; was awarded the IAC Scholarship for District 6; and
  • Emma Schneider, a Freshman at Lewis-Clark State College; daughter of Pamela Schneider, who works in the Nez Perce County District Court, was awarded the Bob McKenzie Assessor’s Memorial Scholarship. 

IAC has been giving scholarships to children of county employees and to the children or grandchildren of county elected officials for fourteen years. County elected officials and employees contribute annually to the IAC scholarship fund through personal donations and other fund raising efforts such as auctions. With the extraordinary efforts of the county elected officials, employees and corporate sponsors, the fund went from two scholarships awarded in the first year to seven this year.  Final selection was made from a pool of 66 applicants.
