Idaho Association of Counties Elects New Leadership for 2017-2018

Boise, Idaho — On September 27, the Idaho Association of Counties (IAC) elected new leadership for 2017-2018.

IAC held its Annual Conference in Boise from September 25-27. The membership held elections on Wednesday, September 27 at the Boise Centre during their annual business meeting.

Donna Peterson was elected as President of IAC. Peterson took office in 2001 as a county treasurer in Payette County. Peterson has been active in IAC and Idaho Association of County Treasurers (IACT). She has served as the IAC Legislative Committee Chair for three years and as a member of the IAC Legislative Committee for 13 years. She has also been a member of IAC’s Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice and Public Safety Committees for several years. Peterson has also served as the Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President, President, and Past President of IACT.

Rose Bernal was elected as Vice President of IAC. Bernal was elected as a Butte County Commissioner in 2014. She serves as a member of the IAC Environment, Energy, and Land Use, Intergovernmental Affairs, and the Public Lands Committees. Bernal joined the IAC Executive Committee as a voice for the rural counties in the state.

Jerry White was elected as Secretary/Treasurer of IAC. White is currently the county assessor in Shoshone County. He took office in 2003. White is currently a member of the IAC Public Lands Committee. He served as the Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President, President, and Past President of Idaho Association of County Assessors (IACA), as well as serving on multiple IACA committees.

Bill Thompson will serve as the Immediate Past President of IAC. Thompson is currently the Latah County Prosecuting Attorney. Thompson has served as the Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President and President of IAC and has moved through the chairs of the Idaho Prosecuting Attorneys Association (IPAA) and served as president twice of IPAA.

The Idaho Association of Counties (IAC), formed in 1976, is a nonprofit, nonpartisan service organization dedicated to the improvement of county government.  It was designed and incorporated by county elected officials to provide services, research, uniformity and coordination among member counties, in order for the county elected officials to serve their constituents better.
