2017 IAC Board Elections

Candidate for IAC Secretary/Treasurer

Jerry White

Shoshone County Assessor

Summarize your background and how it relates to the position you are seeking.

I have been active in both the Idaho Association of Counties (IAC) and the Idaho Association of County Assessors (IACA), having served as Treasurer and Secretary for IACA.

List participation and years of participation in any IAC Committees, the IAC Board of Directors and any leadership positions in affiliate organizations.

I have served on IAC’s Public Lands Committee for several years. I chaired the Section 42 Committee for IACA (2 years) and am currently the Chair for the Committee of Forest Land Taxation Methodology (6 years). I have held office for the Assessors as Historian, Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President, and Past President. I have also chaired the IACA Real Property and Exemption Committee and am currently the chair of IACA’s Timber Committee.

Briefly state your reasons for seeking the position and any other qualifications that might be an asset to IAC.

The main reasons would be the importance of IAC and the networking with other county officials.  I am a huge advocate of community relationships and a better community through volunteering. I am a 30-year volunteer firefighter, a 20-year Lion member, and an 18-year Rotary member. I see daily the strength of communication from the form of Government which is closest to the people, county government and the goods and services it supplies. While serving with these civic groups it gives me a chance to visit with people that might otherwise have little or no contact with their county government. I am also excited about the role that good representation brings to our citizens. It helps me better represent them as a public servant.

List NACo/IAC events/conferences/meetings that you have participated in the last four years.

I have attended and participated in every IACA conference. When time and budget allowed, I have attended the majority of the IAC conferences and District 1 meetings.
